Aerial of Short Street in 1917.

This webinar will feature one of the most interesting historic streets in downtown Miami. Only spanning two blocks, NE Third Street, or once referred to as ‘Short Street’, began as an upscale residential quarter shortly after the city of Miami incorporated. The street was home to the founder of Burdines Department Store, an international hotelier who built the Leamington Hotel, plus many other prominent city pioneers.

The attendee will see pictures and hear stories of the prominent families who made their homes on Short Street. As the two-block quarter evolved from residential to urban landscape during the building boom of the 1920s, NE Third Avenue anchored an important section of town. Learn about the two buildings on the street that were constructed during that foregone era.

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, December 9 from 6:00pm – 7:15pm. The cost to attend the webinar is $10.00, which will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions after the formal presentation. If you cannot make the webinar live, it will be recorded, and ticket holders will receive a link to watch a recording of the presentation at your convenience.
