OTD: November 18, 1850 - Miami pioneer James Ingraham was born
On November 18, 1850, Miami pioneer James Ingraham was born in Dartford, Wisconsin. Ingraham was Henry Flagler's trusted advisor and president of the FEC's Model Land Company in Miami. The Ingraham building in downtown Miami is named for him.
OTD: November 18, 1933 - Shootout at Seminole Hotel in Downtown Miami
On November 18, 1933, a shootout took place in downtown Miami resulting in the fatal shooting of Miami Detective Robert Lee Jester. When Leo Zalutsky and Anthony Kometic, two suspects in an armed robbery in Allentown, Pennsylvania, were apprehended in front of the Seminole Hotel on Flagler Street, a shootout commenced killing Detective Jester and one of the suspects.

OTD: November 23, 1906 - The First FEC Railway Car Arrives in the Florida Keys
On November 23, 1906, the first Florida East Coast Railway locomotive arrived in the Keys. The number 10 locomotive arrived by barge from Lake Surprise and was rolled directly from the barge onto the tracks.
OTD: November 23, 1916 - Royal Palm State Park was Dedicated
On November 23, 1916, Royal Palm State Park was dedicated. It was Florida's first state park and is now part of Everglades National Park.
OTD: November 23, 1925 - Allison Hospital Opened
On November 23, 1925, Allison Hospital, located on Allison Island, opened for business. The hospital was later renamed Saint Francis Hospital and stayed open until it was sold to a developer for $12 million in 1992.
OTD: November 24, 1901 - First Baptist Church Conducted First Service in New Chapel
On November 24, 1901, the First Baptist Church conducted its first service in their new church on the corner of today's NE First Avenue and NE Fifth Street on land donated by Henry Flagler. This was the first of three different church structures that were built on this corner for what is now Central Baptist Church.
