The story of the great aviator Eddie Rickenbacker who served as the President & CEO of Eastern Airlines when it was the most profitable airline by the late 1950s.
Captain Eddie Rickenbacker was definitely a great aviator, but also a great businessman in his establishment of the wonderful Eastern Airlines. Along with PanAm, EAL contributed to making Miami a great city and great tourist destination. After his time, EAL was allowed to disintegrate into a shadow of ashes. To me, this is so typical of Miami—allow our items of pride to deteriorate and then say, “Look how shabby that was.”
Who else remembers when EAL passengers wore suits and ties and ladies wore dresses?
